Abstract
In May 2021, Central Java experienced inflation of 0.17
percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 106.23. Of the six CPI cities in
Central Java, all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred
in Cilacap and Tegal cities at 0.25 percent with CPI at 105.00 and 106.66,
respectively. The lowest inflation occurred in Surakarta at 0.06 percent with a
CPI of 105.84.
The main cause of inflation in Central Java in May 2021 is
the increase in the price of purebred chicken, cooking oil, gold jewelry,
inter-city transportation, and chartered/rental vehicles. The main driver of
inflation in Central Java is the decline in prices for red chili, cayenne
pepper, broiler eggs, cell phones, and eggplant.
