Abstract

Central Java deflation in August 2021 was -0.01 percent. The highest deflation in Tegal was -0.16 percent. The highest inflation was in Kudus at 0.15 percent.

The main cause of deflation in Central Java in August 2021 was the decline in the price of cayenne pepper, air transportation, red chili, shallots, and online 2-wheeled vehicle tariffs. The main barrier to deflation in Central Java is the increase in the price of cooking oil, filter kretek cigarettes, tomatoes, general practitioner fees, and academies/universities.

The inflation rate for the calendar year August 2021 is 0.57 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2021 against August 2020) is 1.42 percent.
