Abstract

The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in February 2023 was 5.47 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 114.16. The highest inflation saw in Kotabaru at 7.88 percent with a CPI of 120.04, while the lowest saw in Waingapu at 3.57 percent with a CPI of 112.74.
Inflation occurred as the prices went up, as indicated by the increase in most of the expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 7.23 percent; Clothing and Footwear Group of 1.18 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 3.43 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group of 4.02 percent; Health Group of 2.94 percent; Transport Group of 13.59 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group of 2.60 percent; Education Group of 2.76 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group of 4.08 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group of 5.63 percent. On the other hand, Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group recorded a deflation of 0.20 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate in February 2023 was 0.16 percent, and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation in February 2023 was 0.50 percent.
For the Core Component, the y-on-y inflation rate in February 2023 was 3.09 percent, the m-to-m inflation rate was 0.13 percent, and the y-to-d inflation rate was 0.47 percent.
