Abstract

The year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in September 2024 was 1.84 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.93. The highest inflation by province was in Papua Pegunungan Province at 4.14 percent, with a CPI of 110.12. The lowest was in Kepulauan Bangka Belitung Province at 0.49 percent, with a CPI of 103.76. The highest inflation by regency/municipality was seen in Minahasa Selatan Regency at 6.31 percent with a CPI of 107.44, while the lowest was seen in Karo Regency at 0.04 percent with a CPI of 105.80. On the other hand, the highest deflation by regency/municipality was seen in Timor Tengah Selatan Regency at 1.32 percent with a CPI of 104.16, while the lowest was seen in Tanjung Pandan at 0.22 percent with a CPI of 105.87.
Inflation occurred as the prices went up, as indicated by the increase in most expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 2.57 percent; Clothing and Footwear Group of 1.18 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 0.60 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group of 1.08 percent; Health Group of 1.69 percent; Transport Group of 0.92 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group of 1.55 percent; Education Group of 1.94 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group of 2.25 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group of 6.25 percent. Meanwhile, the Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group recorded a deflation of 0.28 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation rate in September 2024 was 0.12 percent, and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate in September 2024 was 0.74 percent.
For the Core Component, the September 2024 y-on-y inflation rate was 2.09 percent, the m-to-m inflation rate was 0.16 percent, and the y-to-d inflation rate was 1.69 percent.
